There have been reports recently on the increasing numbers of internet attacks on websites such as government and privately owned sites. According to Yahoo!, Apple has been the latest target for most hackers.

JailBroken Apple Gadgets such as iPhones are more vulnerable to attacks. Kaspersky, one of the leading antivirus developer, announced that security threats have doubled since 2010 and will continue to increase. Android OS is also vulnerable to attacks. Once attack has been successful, Personal Information such as Bank Account Numbers, Credit Cards, pictures and videos can be stolen.

How to Minimize Risk of being attacked:

1. Avoid using public Wi-Fi networks. As much as possible, avoid connecting to public Wi-Fi. These network may not be secure, thus, personal information may be stolen. (WiFi Devices)

2. Always have an updated antivirus software. (Laptops)

3. Turn on Firewall. (Laptops)

4. Be careful when downloading media from the internet. Note that not all malicious software can be detected by an antivirus. Make sure you are downloading from reliable sites. Some Torrent, warez and "Free Download" sites are breeding places of virus, trojan, keyloggers.

5. Avoid opening e-mails from Anonymous Senders. Attacks usually start when replying/downloading attached files from emails. (e-mails)
